CSS FREE EDITORS

Eclipse Software
This is a FREE editor and pretty easy to use. I started out with it but then switched to hand coding with Notepad as somehow it was easier.I liked it because in the beginning it helped me to understand how CSS worked and it made things alot easier. I would highly recommend this. They also have a cool sticky pad that is free for downloading. Comes in different colors and is a handy little gadget to have to remind yourself of things to.It even has a timer and a bell to remind you if you forget!!

TOPSTYLE is a highly recommended css editor- I havent used it but all the forum people recommended it above all others

I totally didnt understand this when I first started into CSS but you HAVE TO HAVE your codes validated.. it is a MAJOR pain the the you know what and can literally make you want to shoot yourself or your computer -- or both. Make sure your site is uploaded before validating and be prepared for a nightmare of things that make NO SENSE

Yes its another PSP Tube..isnt it cool though? The coding part of a site is so frustrating and nit picking but the creative part of the art and color is what I love the best. Of course seeing both come together is pretty awesome and ya do feel GOOD when it all works!!!

Ever wonder what it takes to put a web site together? It's ALOT of hard work, not to mention time consuming,frustrating, overwhelming and sometimes exhausting.
This site has taken over two months of working every day, sometimes all day!!

First there is gathering layout ideas,which in this case took forever as I wasnt familiar with how CSS worked and I had to trash several ideas as I couldnt get them to work ...

For this web site I had to learn CSS, XHMTL both of which were totally foreign to me and took much more time and effort than I ever anticpated. There are two seperate files - one for the CSS part of the page and one for the XHTML part of the page... so each page has two seperate files to edit.

I had to find an FTP program (Core Lite FTP LINK)so I could move the files from my computer to the domain site...the hosting site. I had used FTP years ago but had to refamiliarize myself with how it worked, which again took time and effort.

MY guestbook turned out to be a huge challange as it is a CGI Script - again something that I was not familiar with at all.edit.

The graphic files and the text files must be uploaded to the domain site- the host site-- and the guestbook had to be uploaded not in binary script,which is the common way of uploading files, but in ASCII so I had to learn how and where my FTP program managed that aspect.

The files had to be placed in a CGI folder and the permissions on both the guestbook file and the guestbook folder had to be reset--again something I had never heard of and had no idea of what to do.

File permissions have to do with who can read and write the files..of course you want your files to be secure so you have to be careful about how you set the permissions.

The permissions are changed on the host ftp side-- you simply click on the string of letters- rw and a box pops up with the CHOM numbers and you change those numbers to reflect how you want the permissions to be set.Sounds easy but took me quite a while to figure that out

Once I got everything uploaded the script failed to work and I literally spent days trying to figure out what was wrong. Thankfully,Jack a member of the POWWOW message board, proved to be my hero by finally going into my file manager and seeing that part of the script was missing. He installed the guestbook and pointed me to the editing portion of the program! I owe him a drink for sure if he ever comes to Florida!

My tagboard was another disaster-- I simpy couldnt figure out how to place it on my web page. Everything always looks so easy but then suddenly its a nightmare and there is no one around to call or ask so I have to rely on forums or in this case a great gal Larissa whose site is awesome

Graphics and the link pages i think are the most time consuming..Making graphics is fun but also take a lot of thought and time to do and redo until you get them just right. The links are the most boring part as the web addresses have to be put in along with a description of the site and that takes FOREVER.
